New Osteosarcoma Project

The Health & Genetics Committee is very excited to announce a new osteosarcoma project!

This project undertakes the very important task of seeing whether Deerhounds have any of the mutations found to date in two close relatives, the Greyhound and Irish Wolfhound, as well as Rottweilers, and lays the groundwork for future studies.

The total cost of this project is $12,137, but thanks to some generous donors, $6,000 of funding is already pledged. So, between both the cystinuria and the osteosarcoma research, we have approximately $18,000 to raise by December 31.

We have an auction running this week, with many great items. We are loading the items now, and they will be up shortly.

We will also be soliciting donations and selling clothing soon.

We have great hopes for both of these projects. Please give as generously as you can, whether you donate directly, bid on fabulous auction items, or buy clothing, so we can reach these goals by the end of the year.

As always, your support is much appreciated.

A thought for fundraising: A BCOA member has raised $2000/ year every year for the last three to benefit Borzoi health research, and we anticipate a like sum for 2016. She solicits photos on Facebook. A committee chooses 12. Individuals buy dates. The calendars are printed on demand. No need for stock on hand at the end of the sale. Just a thought, Joy Joy Windle Joyous Gard East Fallowfield,PA
